I had my 05 Pilot ACS at my local field 2 summers ago and had the ref looking over at me wondering if I was really shooting a spyder. They can lay rope with the best of them up to about 15 bps. I only kept mine for a year and moved to an ion, both mine and my son's weren't very reliable and consistent. I do like the ion much better but people seem to think that if you don't spend $1,000 on a marker it's not really a "Tournament Gun". I've had the ION for a year and I'm thinking about upgrading to a shocker in the next couple of years. The ION in my opinion, with some mods is a descent entry level tourney gun. It's light, fast, and easy to upgrade.

To me the VSs feel like an anker compared to some others, including the ion and the Proto Rail. If you were looking to spend around $400 I'd consider the proto Rail. It's ready to go without ups. It is about 1lb heavier than an ION but it's ready to rock and roll Tourney Style right out of the box. If I had to guess, because kingman doesn't say, the VS would have to be close to 3.5lbs, just a guess though. If someone knows I'm real curious to know it's actual weight.

Nope - the Rail is actually lighter than the Ion. It only weigh's a little under two pounds TOTAL with barrel and reg (about 1.90 if I remember right.) I think it weighs about the exact same as the Mini, give or take an ounce.

But you're right, it's ready to go right out of the box. As far as the VS, I think there's a thread around here with all that information...just have to do a search because I'm too lazy at the moment!

Meh - that's ActionVillage for you. They don't really care what they write, so long as it sounds good.

Here ya go - the PMR Ultimate Sticky at PBN (they are good for something!) says:

Matching single piece Proto barrel
Hyper2 in-line air regulator
Anti-chop eye system (break beam)
Composite eyeplate
150psi operating pressure with Boost Forward technology
Continuous three-dimensional contoured body design
Compact and lightweight body styling
Proto dual-durometer sticky grips
LED program control
Dual-durometer composite ergonomic 45 grip frame
Re-engineered 1 piece bolt system
Adjustable dual-durometer trigger sensitivity and rate of fire
Stamped metal insert logo
new Dye Airport bottom line
Adjustable locking dual-durometer feedneck
No UL frame but one will be made specifically for the PMR.
No LPR.
3 firing modes + 1 (Semi, PSP, Millennium, and NXL (hidden mode)
The PMR colors are black, blue, olive, and red
1.22 without reg, barrel and battery. 1.94 pounds with everything.

Haven't located the ION stats yet, but will as soon as I get them. But I can tell you the Proto is much lighter than the Ion....

Damn, that's light. Thanks for the clarification, I want one now. Want to buy a used ION?

due to its high impact polymer frame, the rail is extremely light, the ion on the other hand has far more aluminum in much thicker amounts than necessary.

Hahaha, no, I don't want an Ion! It's not that I don't care for them, I just could never develop a feel for them. I like my Shocker MUCH more than the Ion.

The frame is a large portion for the reason it's so light, but I believe that the NDZ frame and the UL frame are both just a couple ounces heavier than the stock frame. I think the gun's just milled to be as light as possible meaning there isn't much metal left to play with.
