For 700 you can get a brand new pm6 or nxt shocker. I would pass on the etek and get a used 05 or 06 ego instead. I don't have anything to say on the rail b/c i have never shot one.
Best thing you can do is go shoot what ever it is your looking at and decide based off the feel that you like.

My friend has a rail and I love it but Ive wanted a shocker nxt and I love timmies. I could care less about efficiency because all the fields I go to have free all day air.

I'd go Rail over Shocker, IMO..... That's another Shocker owner saying that too.

Maxx - the trigger's not that bad. It's difficult when you practice walking the trigger without actually shooting it, but it's butter smooth when you actually shoot it with air and paint. I can't explain it, it's just weird. However, I am going to get an aftermarket trigger with it.
Lud - I love my shocker, and it's not even the NXT. I bet those are even better! However, I've never been a fan of Timmies for some reason. ttam - make sure you REALLY research it and shoot it before you decide. A spool valve isn't as easy to care for as a Spyder. That goes for the Shocker as well. I'm definitely not trying to talk you out of it because it is a great gun, just some of your questions on this forum lately compel me to say this. A lot of newer people are getting this gun, then can't maintain it and end up saying it's a POS. Hate for that to happen again. As far as research goes, although I don't like BSNation, I spent a LOT of time in the Dye forums reading about this gun - and then I found Matrixowners.com which is a good place as well, but not as much activity. Go to those places and read all the threads about it - then go to pbreview and read all the reviews there. Don't just rely on PBreview or BSNation because there's a lot of biasedness in both places, but they do help somewhat.

I personally love my etek. It works sorta like a timmy except instead of a ram sleeve they call it a valve. the operation is similar also.
and vike, when a barrel rises from a high rate of fire the proper term is muzzle climb. |

Here is how you choose:
Step 1: Go to local Store or Field Step 2: Ask to see guns. Step 3: Fire Guns. Step 4: Buy what one you like. I have not shot a PMR or and Etek. I have owned both a Minion(PM6) and currently an 06 Ego. Now I personally like the Ego more than the PM6 but i cant say that is going to be true for you. So follow my guide and you shall do well. |
