stripping anno

i remember a few questions on how to do this on the old boards, but i cant find one on this board. i remember it took a lot of work, but im interested again lol. anyone have a how-to?

drano works for stripping anno, but you have to clean it up right away or the draino will eat up the aluminum and it'll get oxidized and pitted

what do you want to strip the anno on? whole gun? I think some guys can re anno a body for like $40

ya, pretty much. i want the polished aluminum

the oven cleaner stuff works too, anything with lye in it, invest in a dremel after that and smooth and polish it out...

what about the inside? weren't there plugs involved or something? a step by step kind of thing would be awesome lol. i want to know exactly how much time, effort, and carefulness this will take before i risk ruining my spyder that's served me so faithfully for the past 3 years. especially carefulness lol

just sand blast it (bead blast for a smoother finish) then follow it up with a dremmil with a polishing wheel, and go to an auto parts store and get some mothers billet polish (the stuff they use for custom wheels and stuff) to go with the polishing wheel.

as for the plugs yeah, your gonne want to plug it cuz you dont want the sand to get inside and scour up the internal tubes. if its a screw hole just go to the home depot or lowes or something and get a spare screw and put it in to seal up those holes. as for feed necks and where the vert adapter block go in and such. you can find just about anything to fit in there to make the seal. wooden dow rods. shove enough duct tape in there. just get creative if your a cheap . just make sure its something soft and not metal that you shove in there. and again check the automotive stores like o'rielly or autozone or something. you can get little plastic caps there in variety packs that fit many different size holes.

and in the case the sandblaster aint available. you can get grinding type wheels on a dremmil as well, but youl go through a few wheels gettin through the anodizing and getting it down to bare aluminum.
