Break in

I have gone through one Co2 tank (not sure how many balls, probably 500) is this a sufficent break in amount. What is the benefit of breaking in the bolt?

That won't break in the spring of the bolt. Stuff a rag or wooden dowel into the feedneck that will obstruct the bolt and make it compress. Then dry fire a full tank till empty. OR, take out the bolt and compress it with your hand over and over for about 30-45 minutes.
