Spyder Xtra

Hi, I am new here (and to paintball) and for my first gun I was thing about getting a spyder xtra 06. I couldn't find too much reviews of this gun, so i decided to ask if this would be a good beginers gun and if it works well. Also, does anybody know how long the gun is, because I can't find that anywhere else. Lastly, I just wanted to know if the gun shoots well and far and how it handles. Thanks!

Well, how much money do you have to spend? I'd have to suggest getting an electro such as the Pilot ACS or a refurb Imagine from Actionvillage.

One thing to keep in mind: All spyders are the same other than grip frame and the occaisional reg or bolt.

yeah, it's a great first gun! i got mine on ebay for $60, and as for shooting far, yes it shots as far as any other gun in it's class. hope that helps

best thing about the xtra 06 is that it is matt black so great for bush games.

otherwise like others have said it is similar to all other spyders.

I like the grip on mine, feels comfortable. One thing that does concern me though is im running it on co2 and i've noticed that it very quickly starts to shoot out solid chunks of co2... I know this is normal for these guns, but i also have a sonix a victor II and a tl-r and none of these guns do it quite as quickly..

Could be a defect in the gun, i've stripped it to have a look but can't see anything, it maybe the tank im using with it im not sure....

and for the record, i brought it for $220 about a month ago.. So the $60 comment above will depend on where you are at. The absolute cheapest i could find it where i am was $215 and that was the xtra 05.. So just shop around and get a feel for prices in your area.

I am also new to paintball 3 months, and bought a Spyder Extra Le new with a safety mask, co2 tank for $100 on ebay. Love the gun and really enjoy playing paintball. The Kingman tutorials show you how to take care and how to clean your gun. It is a great starter gun. It can shoot just a far as the others, but you should read up on effective range etc. It isn't how far you shoot or how much paint flies, but how accurate you are. It only takes one hit to get knock someone out of the game. Enjoy, Peter

Whoa...... it must suck to live in the middle of no where as to geting stuff like that. Though New Zealand is awesome, I definitely would love to live there.

I wouldn't expect you pay above 60$ for any mech spyder...

yeah you can get a brand new one on ebay for under $80. I went used 05 and got it for $60
