Default Political Hoopla.

Note:DO NOT ARGUE WITH PEOPLE ABOUT THIER POLICAL STANCES

this thread is designed for you to post your ideas of politics and critiques of politics, not to flame other people. please feel free to:

express your own politcal standpoint (ie your utopia) and politely mention the problems with laws, taxes, polocies made by those in office

polietly critique other's comments, as long as you dont get anxious or mad about it, its just a discussion

Do NOT post:

insults

flames

polical hate/minority or majority hate/complaints or *****ing about how others may do these things/animosity towards opposing view points

stuff you'll get banned for or this thread will be closed for

this is just a discussion and a pool of ideas, not a hate orgy, we're generally all mature enough to keep our anger out of posting... i hope.

go. ill post as soon as im done organizing my revolutionary ideas that most of you will think are insane.

i dont agree with our welfare system. most people on it become lazy because theyre getting enough money to live off of for free. we should have a cutoff date so those people will be actively looking for jobs and becoming a thriving member of our society. when the cutoff date comes, and they still dont have a job, then too bad. they had theyre momentary safety net and didnt take advantage of it. theyre fault, boo-hoo.

i agree with increasing societarial desire
but i think most efforts would be severly rejected by much of society. in order to kick welfare riders into action i think you would really need to merge the plans at such a slow pace that everyone accepts them slowly, rather than get outraged all at one time.

i would propose we find new methods of education. it seems like we're learning everything too many times, too inefficiently, and at too slow of a pace in certain regions and too fast in others.

ya, im thinkin so too. but since no one else is really willing to start it off

i consider myself pretty moderate, but i think most, especially where i live, would consider me a liberal. soo... my perfect society is...

true socialism. unfortuneately, its not possible to attain true socialism. so my views...

- higher taxes, better health care and retirement for everyone.
- abortion banned, but the govt pays for and promotes adoption centers
- no death penalty
- small military that never leaves our soil
- govt would avoid any foreign entanglements
- no political parties
- total separation of church and state. that includes the original intent of the founders and what the "godless liberals" want. whether you allow the government to pick and choose religion, or religion to pick and choose the government, the end result is the same. a theocracy.
- loser pays all legal fees in any lawsuit
- all natural drugs legalized and regulated, end the war on drugs

i guess that will do for now. im sure i forgot some, but there you go.

im personally for the death penalty. my reason being that it lessens the amount of tax dollars needed to go to prisons. the death penalty is cheaper than having people serve life in prison and having to pay for their food, clothes, water, guards, and heat until they get old and die in 40 years.

another thing is that having inmates sit on death row makes the prisons general population safer by not having convicted murderers with them. some may complain about the people on death row growing psychologicly unstable and suicidal due to their time in isolation, but i say if an inmate tries to kill themself, let them. it will save the taxpayers money, and make room for the next person at the same time. this will make things roll along smoother and faster.

its all about efficiency.

um, claus said something about politely critiqueing (sp?) others' comments, soooo...

on the cost of the death penalty, it is actually cheaper in almost every case to keep a person in prison for life than to execute them. the vast majority of that extra cost is due to the extra trials necessary to ensure that they are guilty. and we still execute innocent people. heres a linky http://www.mindspring.com/~phporter/econ.html
