You empty the tank, set the gauge to 0oz, and fill until it is just under the size of the bottle (like 19.5oz for a 20oz). Very simple process after you get the system set-up. You need to have the siphon tube installed on the bulk CO2 cylinder. Remember that as you need a 60-40 ratio of liquid/gas CO2 inside your tank. That's all I can think of right now.... I'm sure another member has something to add.

Yes...you weigh them....with a scale you can hang the bottle from while you fill it...

siphon tube? On the bulk cylinder. Are those common to find? 60-40 ratio is that common to find. I got some cylinders from a friend of mine that he used for he's kegerator, dispensing beer.

Also if you can't get the tank full you either chill it in the freezer first or let gas out to cool the tank allowing you to get more in. Sundragon has an article on how to do it. www.sundragonpps.com

The ratio is acheived by simply filling it until it's weight is right.
The siphon tube needs to be installed on the under-side of the valve, and I personally would have a proshop or scuba shop do it for me. It's just a tube that runs to the bottom of the bulk bottle, but I don't trust myself that much around unstable gasses. The siphon tubes can be found at just about any scuba shop, I'd think. At least, in the ones around me they do.

No. Any CO2 tank is rated to 1800WP (1800 Working Pressure), or 3000psi. It doesn't really matter how muh liquid and gas is in the cylinder until you overfill it. If you have the tank filled, with just a valve, it will suck in pure gas CO2 and fill your tank as such, without any liquid to expand. You need a Siphon Tube to get the maximum shots/fill per tank, and even if you don't need a full tank fill it's reccommended. I don't know exactly why, just that it is.
Long story short: your Pepsi CO2 tank will work with a few more bucks. Just go down to the local dive shop/call them and ask how much a siphon tube is for your size tank.

Well i tried to fill up my tank and it would only go to 4.1 oz. so i turned the bulk tank upside down and i got it to fill up to 19oz. this is on a 20oz tank. is this okay?
