Yes it can bend pretty easily, thats why i had to double it. I should have gotten a thicker one but thats all I could get my hands on. I will try to experiment with a couple different brackets to see if there are any better ones.

im at school so i cant upload pics (try to do that tonight) but what if you doubled the lenght of the cut bracket, bend the bottom piece back instead of forewards, and then bend the extra length back up to the grip frame again?
