How to Make a Drop forward

I've had a couple people ask me to show them how to make a custom drop forward. So I guess I'll make a thread about it.

Make sure you read through the whole thing before starting.


Materials you'll need

Shelf Brackets (cost me about 2 bucks)
Screws the same thread as the bottom line screws and nuts that fit them (Again, cost me about two bucks)

Tools

Screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips)
Drill
File
Safety Glasses (when drilling)
Hacksaw or something to cut the screws shorter

Ok, just to let you know that I, Kingman, or anyone else, except you are responsible if you mess up and screw up your gun or hurt yourself. Ok, Now that we got that out of the way, let’s do it.


First, you need the shelf bracket. This is what I bought....



First cut it to the length that you prefer. I had to bend it flat, so I would advise buying something already flat. And thicker than what I bought too, because it was so thin I needed to make it double thick to be sturdy enough.



Next I drilled the holes to fit the bottom line of a spyder. Wear the safety glasses. You must be exact in where you drill the holes. The first time I did it I was off by a tiny bit and I had to start over cause' the screws didn't go in right.




You must drill on both sides, like this.




I would advise drilling before bending it. I bent it first and it just made it harder.

Bend the bracket to where it is comfortable for you.


Next take the screws and cut them so they fit the bottom of the grip frame. Like so.




Now take the stock bottomline screws and put them through the bottomline and drop.





Next, screw on the nuts..




Last, screw the top of the drop forward into the bottom of the grip frame.




Hooray! All you have left to do is to file those sharp edges on the bracket down.

Well, I hope this helped you make a drop forward and save you a few bucks.
Of course, a drop made specifially for paintball will be better, but this will help while you save up.

Yep, It looks really ugly but it gets the job done

thats awsome, but what kind of drill do u need? and im gonna renovate it and see if i can give it some designs

I just used a regular drill with a bit a little wider than the screw.

Some spray paint on that would help a ton! Nice job. I'm sure that can be refined even more by experimenting with different materials too.

Thats really awesome, a little clean up and some paint (bake it to make it stronger) would make it really awesome.

One question though, how strong is it? It looks like it could bend pretty easily.

Drill press is even better than a regular drill.
