I may be the one responsible for this issue, since last week I questioned why some folks respond the way they do to the reviving of old threads. I've not encountered this before, and I couldn't find a forum policy statement specific to this issue.

In any event, if I offended anyone, I apologize.

I also have a couple of suggestions. There's an easy and systematic way to prevent this whole issue: auto-pruning.

If, within this forum, it is considered bad form to post in a thread that has sat idle for a period of time, then perhaps the admins/moderators should consider "expiring" threads after said period of time. I run a php forum myself, and I know you can turn on "auto-pruning", to automatically delete threads that have not been replied to in so many days. So if the admins and moderators are in agreement on this issue, why not auto-pruning on?

I've seen other forums implode because the long-time users don't like the posting habits of noobs that join. I don't want to see that happen here. So whatever the "posting etiquette" is for this forum, could you post it somewhere? If it's already there, and I missed it (and I did look), then again, I apologize.

Mech: you are not the one in question. this is more of an issue of purposely reviving an old post.

there is nothing wrong with reviving a post on occasion. one may do a search and find a thread that fits them more. however, if he wanted to question something different, that is fine.

auto-pruning is fine. until one needs to locate certain things in there search that has been answered.

this poll/question came to be when a banned user bent on logging in different names and willfully bringing back posts for no good reason just to stir up trouble. his claim being that by doing this, it will bring the board down by sending members away packing. so, if (and i am sure he is here) that person wants to do that, he can see by votes how his threat will affect these fine outstanding members.

I voted that it was irritating, but not leave because by purposely doing it, it IS irritating...however, no way would I leave based on that issue alone.

I, too, know the situation and for the members of the forum, I can guarantee the mods and admin here are working to try to make this the best place on the net, regardless of the feelings of one or two disgruntled members.

I've seen it before, or things like it..I've been through several things here and haven't left yet..I plan to stay.

And my contract doesn't run out for another 3 years, I want to make my 20 dollars.
