Sorry for my absense over the last few months guys. I've been reading the forums. Just not posting due to lack of time. I have been working some insane hours this summer, and doing a lot of work-related travel (Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, AND South Carolina). The work was nuts but the overtime pay was pretty sweet. I put most of the surplus cash in the bank for safe keeping, but I decided to splurge just a bit too. Besides... I turned 26 this month (7/14) and I wanted to get myself something nice.
This is my brand new Springfield XD-40. I originally wanted either a .45 or a 9mm but I couldn't decide (and they were both out of stock) so I went with the .40 instead. This is the 4inch service model, chambered in .40 S&W. It came with the case, 3 high-capacity magazines, and all the goodies you see below. (click on the pictures for the full-size shots) Now all I need to do is shop around for some decent ammo and then I can hit the range. |

All 3 mags are 12+1. Not as good as the 9mm (I think those are 14) but better than the .45

You bastard! I've wanted one of those forever!!!
![]() Such good handguns! I've tried all but the .45ACP they just came out with and this version. I'd take one over a Glock anyday! I don't think the magazines are that much smaller from this calibre to a .45GAP, though... Props! Edit: Just checked out the site, you're right. It's 9+1 for the .45GAP, and it's 13+1 for the 9mm. Their new .45ACP is 13+1, however. I haven't heard of that model before, so I'm now reading it over, lol.

ive never shot a springfield handgun how are those. We use sig sauer 9 mils. i really like em, extremely quick breakdown. I gotta agree with glocks sucking though. only one i ever shot that i liked was a 357.sig round and i couldnt even tell you the model.

Ive fired a number of Glocks and was never very impressed. Big fan of Para's automatics and Taurus revolvers. I've only fired the Springfield 1911. Never one of these new composite frames. Bought this one by recommendation and reputation rather than taking it for a test drive. Taking it to the range very soon and I expect to be very impressed.

These pistols have a different angle on the hand than the Glocks that I find more comfortable to fire with. It's closer to an actual 45*, which I personally find easier to control recoil with. So, I have to ask TigerDave, will this be a carry gun, or a pop a week?
