OK, I have a rascal scooter that I "borrowed" from a local grocery store and well ironically there is a rather large mini truck show in the upcoming month. So what better to do, than to BAG IT!! Why you ask, well simply because I want to, and I have the abilities and resources.
![]() SO, upon comming up with this absolutely brillant idea, I researched different ways I could got this to work, by looking at people who have done similar to their go-karts. I decided to go with a pivot of the frame for its ease and simplicity. I then went about disassembling the entire scooter and getting it as stripped down as I could. ![]() I then thought about what I should use to allow the articulation. First thought, was the obvious bag, but those are usually quite large in diameter, and I have limited space to work with, they are also rather expensive even used. I went to the next best thing which would be an air cylinder. I asked around to see if anyone had one available but to no avail, I then asked my wonderful father if he knew of any places that had them. Well guess what, he works with then everyday @ his place of employment. So I politely requested if he could manage to bring one home for me, and for the sake of mini truckers all over the world. He obliged, and brought one home the next business day (today). AWESOME!! Just what I was looking for. ![]() I then got to work on the link set up persay. I also obtained some metal for this project from my fathers place of employment. I recieved 4' of 1"x1" square tubing, with a rather thick wall and some 1/4" plate cut to size. I then rounded the corner of the plate and drilled a 17/32 hole in it where I will later place a bolt though, I then measured, and measured again, and welded the two pieces of the plate on 2 of the 4 pieces, to opposing sides of the tubing. Then with the remaining pieces of the tubing I also went about rounding those corners for clearance, and drilled another 17/23 hole on one end of each piece of the square tubing. Then put the sets together, put a bolt through, and called it a day. ![]() Yes, I know the welds arent the best. But the welder isnt quite a miller either. Ill will try to update this thread as much as I can. The project should be finished in the matter of a week or two, depending on what else we (friends and I), have going on.
