Question Anyone seen Silent Hill?

I've heard this movie rules if you like those scary type movies anyways. I do and I'm pretty sure I'm going to check it out today some time. I don't go to pay theaters very often. The last time I went to one was over a year ago to see um......oh shoot, I forgot it was so long ago lol. I do watch alot of movies on my pooter though. I don't own a TV and have done quite well w/o one for the past couple of years -

Anyways, anyone seen this flick and did it scare teh doo doo outta you? I don't want to fork the bucks only to be disappointed. GREAT OOGLEY BOOGLEY.....IT'S DA BOOGIE MAN!!! ..........

I saw the movie about a week ago. I wouldn't say its scary, but there are a few parts that are more than other scenes. Overall it is a good movie and the storyline is good too. I've never played any of the games the movie was based off of, and I still thought it was decent. You should definitely see it dragon.

wow... its really not that hard of a concept. i sit in movie A until i see some of teh secks (theres sexual content which raises the movie rating to pg-13) for about 15 min. then i leave that movie and go into a shoot em up movie (movie B) on another ticket that i also bought, and watch 15 min of them droping the f 1 time, a few s'es (s***) and them gun down some people, which is also pg 13, meaning i can watch it without accompanyment, then i go to a 3rd movie and watch them doing some drugs and more of teh seck scenes (ALSO STILL A PG13). do the math, ive seen enough scenes to make an R rated movie in my brain, in half the time of some of the shortest movies, but they wont let me go into an R rated movie "unaccompanied" (which showcase cinemas interprets to mean "hold hands throughout" when it just means that a parent has to be there when i enter the theatre...) which has the same amount of secksual scenes, drug scenes, violent, and language scenes but is maybe 2 hours long instead of my 45 min of movie hopping. so why even enforce the movie ratings? ive got 3 reasons why NOT to:
- its not a law, and if theatres keep treating it like one, ill watch it somewhere else
- if i was there to see bad scenes that they are trying to stop me from seeing, id movie hop by buying 3 tickets, the point is, i dont do that, so stop stopping me from seeing WHAT I WANT TO SEE
- my parents are the sole deciders of what i can and cant see, and citizens are assumed innocent until proven guilty of ANYTHING (including crimes, but in this case that doesnt matter right now) otherwise i'll sue for slander. if i say my parents let me go, why should you assume me to be lying, if you do assume me to be lying ill sue you for slandering my good name.

thats 3 good reasons to shut down these bull**** rating companies that just cause prices for movies and prices for tickets to be more and more.

im not trying to hyjack the tread i just think that if people dont understand what im saying, i should clarify it, ill edit my other two to keep the clutter lower.

ninja edit: plus the mpaa has a stict stance against pirating movies and illeagal recopying, when they themselves did it for movies they were rating by distributing illeagal copies to their members in order to cut costs.

its not meant to be scarey, and it isnt. it does a good job at creeping you out though. ive found that unless you are familiar with how the games are played, you wont enjoy the movie that much. im a huge fan of the games, and i thought it was wonderful along with some of my friends. people ive talked to who havnt played them said they thought the movie was bad and cheesey.

Thumbs up Re: Anyone seen Silent Hill?

Well I saw the flick and it was OK enough that I'd like to watch it maybe a couple more times once it is released on DVD. I would not say that about too many movies. May have been a bit more interesting if their were some known actors and a few more of those bobbely (oogley, try not to claim that one too lol) things. As stated wasn't extremely scarey but certainly an interesting plot and gives one a new respect for barbed wire. I'd give it a 6 or 7 of 10 -

So i suppose since it's your SN, you invented the name/saying huh? -

Claus, thanks for clearing that up though but a condensed version would have sufficed lol -

Clause, you know you have to be 18 or 17 to buy or rent an R rated movie? But I don't know if its a law or not, but I thought it was.

I was under the impression that it was a law as well, not a guideline. The rating things been around a while, but I think the actual law came about back when all those mothers and christian groups started their campaign against profanity, pornography and other things back in the 80's and 90's...you guys might recognize it's biggest result - getting video games and cd's labeled....

Oh, and the revamped movie labeling thing with NC-17 and PG13. I don't think NC-17 is used anymore, but I also think there was another one that isn't used much anymore.

Hehehe - some of us old timers can probably remember X, XX and XXX ratings...I remember a show being rated R because it showed this guy's butt for about a half a millisecond awhile back. Porky's was going to be considered rated X...but you could go to a drive in and see X rated movies back then. Good times, good times!
