Smile A new edition to my family

Yesterday I added to my family...

Meet Mocha:

He is a 4 month old Chocolate Pointed Cornish Rex. He is a pretty funny little guy and making himself right at home here.

Also just got done building this:

It is an outdoor house for our cats. They love to be outside but we don't let our cats run loose outside. Typically when they went outside, it was under very close supervision. Now they can hang out outside anytime they want.

Their faces always take me into the uncanny valley for some reason haha. That's a great idea with the outdoor house. What's it connected to?

The bottom of that big window behind it opens, so we got a cat door that fit into it. The door is pretty cool, 4 way lock able: Unlocked, Locked so the cat can only come in, but not out, Locked so the cat can only go out, but not in, and Locked.

Ya, I'm just wondering what part of the house that is (I'm mostly interested in possible AC/heating difficulties)

The cat house is completely open, so it is not heated or cooled. If its too hot we make them come in.

The house is connected to our living room. The cat door we got was made especially for hot and cold climates to reduce the amount of heat exchange. Really the only place there are any air leaks is around the door. When the cat door is closed, there is very, very little air that leaks in or out of the house. The only time air really moves, is when the door is open (aka a cat is going out or coming in).

Location wise, it is on the northwest side of our house and is shaded most of the day.

oohhhhhh ok. At first glance it just looked like you left a window open for them to hop out, but I see more now. Makes more sense.

I approve! Have you got more pictures of your other cats? I like the outdoor house/window thing, Iono how I'd feel not letting them out, but it makes sense.

The problem with letting your cats outside to roam free is that they can come into contact with other animals who have not been immunized. Your cat could contract stuff like FeLV (Feline Leukemia) then bring it back to your house and give it to your other animals.

Pictures of my other cats:

These are my older sister's, but they are staying at our house right now.

Phil

Lil

They are Blue Point Orientals and are named after the twins in the Nickelodeon cartoon, The Rugrats.

This is my mom's Blue Point Oriental, Lucy, and she is Phil and Lil's 1/2 sister.

Here is my other cat, Leonidas, we call him Leo. He is a Smoked Egyptian Mau.

These are our other 2 Cornish Rexes.

Oliver

Anubis

This is my dad's cat, Gidget, she adopted us

We have one more Cornish Rex, his name is Ty. He is a long term foster. We rescued him from a backyard breeder. We picked up 6 Rexes from the lady (Oliver and Anubis were part of that 6), one had an ear infection and ear mites so bad his head is permanently tilted to one side. He was adopted out to a family that had no clue how to treat a Rex. They were giving him baths with medicated shampoo every week. When they returned him to our rescue they said he was very aggressive and was peeing outside the litter box. I can believe the peeing part since he was so stressed, but not the aggressive part. When we got him back he had no hair, was as red as a cherry and very skittish. Now, he has calmed down, loves attention and is as sweet as you would expect a Rex to be. We have seen no aggressiveness at all, actually he is the least aggressive cat in the house.

you know... when i first saw the first set of pics, the first thing that popped in my mind was a furry non-blue version of those characters on Avatar. never seen the movie... just the pics on the billboards and commercials.

nice harem, BTW.

my kitty is still kicking after we think 17 years. born wild and has seen the sites from KY to PA to WA.
