Default Any motorcyclist?

I was misled by Leed's thread about bikes, and still wanna talk about bikes

I'm taking the MSF (motorcycle Safety Foundation) course this Friday and can't wait.

1st bike I ever rode was a 1982 Suzuki GN 125, that was a month ago. Well, I've ridden many scooters (49cc), do those count? :P Next was a 1980 GN 250.

Now I'm currently attracted to the 2010 Ninja 250, don't want anything too powerful. I know I know...I'm in control of the throttle and I "may" wish that I got a bigger bike. Well, just my preference

Nothing specific to talk about in this thread, share what you wanna share ^_^

The msf is a great course to take, here is a site I frequent regularly. Any questions you may have about motorcycle safety will definitely be answered. My current bike is a Honda Aero but I'm looking to move up to a Yamaha Stratoliner in the very near future. For just messing around in the fields in my area I have a Cr500.

The 250 is good starter bike for going around on the streets but it totally sucks on the highway. I rode my friends and it was just terrible on the highway, it was hitting the rev limiter at 65. It was pretty annoying hearing the engine rev that high constantly and actually pretty scary knowing you couldn't speed up if need be to get out of the way of something/somebody.

You might want to look at the ninja 500 and Suzuki SV650, both are good starter bikes that have the needed power but not enough to throw you off the back, both engines are much more tame.

If you want to die quickly get a 600 or higher with R in the name :P I rode my other firends honda 1000r, talk about a butt clinching ride. You know the bike has way to much power when your over 100 before you even make it to the top of the highway entrance ramp.

That being said, I am planning on picking up used Ninja 600r sometime this summer. My kawasaki dirtbike was always good to me.

That's some sexiness ya got there Swoosh

While you rode your friends 250, were you riding solo Taco? I definitely gotta get on the highway to get back and forward to work.

Oh, helmets!!
I'm looking to get a Scorpion Exo 400. Been reading some good reviews on em, but no one in my area carrys them in store so I can't try it on
Any personal feedback on helmets to look for?

If you want a supersport, go with a 600. 250s are nice to start out but you will out grow the bike in 2 to 3 months and will regret it. 600s are plenty fast but are not death machines like 1000s.

Yes I was riding solo. The 250r was just to weak for anything other then everyday street riding. I personally would never buy one just for that reason. If your traveling on the highway daily you def. need to look at atleast a 500 min.

While I agree 600 "r" models aren't the same death machines as 1000, they are still to powerful for a brand new rider. The wrong body position coupled with twisting the throttle alittle to far can easily throw you off the bike, even with the right body position you can still flip the bike completely over if your hand slips on the throttle. Your talking about 100+hp on a 450lbs machine.

My first bike is a 09 r6. I'm completely happy with it. It's not everyones cup of tea for starting out but I'm a speed junky. I figure I gotta die some day right?

My old lady hates the idea of me on a rocket because she knows how I drive my Mustangs.

On another note, I have a 2010 Polaris Rush waking for me this winter woot.

I just had to order tires for my Aero and I searched for a while to find the best price for them. The cheapest place I found was motorcycle superstore and they have free shipping also, just wanted to pass this information along for those who hate having to pay a stealer for tires.
