I've been given a fully functional, legit, copy of Windows 7, Professional, 64bit, to do with what I want (sell or install on my computer). I'm currently running Windows XP Pro, 32bit. I just got done backing up all my files to my external and I'm sitting here thinking, "Do I really want to install Windows 7? Lose all my programs? Start over?"
I have plenty of power in my PC to run 7, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.8 GHz processor, Intel DP45SG MB, 4gb of RAM installed, can go to 8 gb, 500 gb HD, EVGA GeForce 9500GT graphics card. Biggest benefit I see, is being able to use all the RAM I want. I have never really played with 7 much, so I'm not sure if there is benefit beyond that. From what I've been able to find, I can probably get around $100 for the program on eBay, since it is an OEM version. What do you guys think? Install? Sell?

I say since it was given to you, you can run it fine AND it's a step up you should install it. I moved up to 7 from XP about a year and a half ago and was surprised at the amount of little features here and there that are actually pretty nice. I think it is a better experience.

im with doc. its so much easier to set up almost everything in 7. plus if you do any pc gaming, the dx10 in that 9500 will be a big step up from the dx9 youre forced to run in xp.

Okay, exporting my addresses and bookmarks, then I will begin the install process.
edited: Install complete, running updates, then the long process of putting programs and setting everything else up.
