Red face Another one for yew Yomama fans.......

It's not like I didn't predict this years ago. With little means of real opposition to the stipulations and taxes our government impose upon us daily, here's a part of the change some of you voted on last November -

We all know that our government is genuinely concerned with our health right? I mean why else would they tax the hell out of people consuming legal substances in their quest of the constitutionally provided right to pursuit of hapiness? This their rationale of imposed "Sin Taxes". I mean if a person is going to consume goods that may shorten their lives, why let them get away with it without taxing the crap out of them before they do die? If they lived longer, that means the more taxes they could throw into the jar of monies we have no idea of when, where and how it's being spent. Are they really concerned about our health or are they just greedy dictators finding bigger and better ways to take what's ours in the name of concern for our well being? Did I mention pay raises for all in the seats of power and bailouts for companies that think $500,000.00 bonuses and elaborate parties to celebrate such bailouts are what bailout funds are for -

Waidaminute.......getting off track here.......

Well I always jokingly said that if our government is sooooooo concerned with taxing those that smoke and consume alcohol, why not be concerned with those the feed themselves into a frenzy daily getting closer to that heart attack and whatever other health concerns go along with this gluttony. Hah, I should have kept my mouth shut:

Sept. 9) -- As he fights a heated battle to get Congress to pass health care reform, President Barack Obama seems warm to another health-related idea: a so-called sin tax on soda and other sugary drinks.

In an interview with Men's Health magazine, Obama called a tax on soda "an idea that we should be exploring." (Heh, he was thinking exploited, take my word for it) "There's no doubt that our kids drink way too much soda. And every study that's been done about obesity shows that there is as high a correlation between increased soda consumption and obesity as just about anything else," he said. "Obviously it's not the only factor, but it is a major factor." (That means they have more exploitations on the hot grill waiting to be served to the public)

But Obama acknowledged that the tax would be a tough sell politically. (That means that every time it's turned down, they will put it on the ballot again untill it's finally passed) "Legislators from certain states that produce sugar or corn syrup are sensitive to anything that might reduce demand for those products," he said. "And look, people's attitude is that they don't necessarily want Big Brother telling them what to eat or drink, and I understand that." (But Berry, Big Bro already tells the people what they must do with their lives. How would this Big Bro imposition be any different than the others? WAIT! Did you just admit that our government is Big Bro?!!!)

In a follow-up story, the New York Daily News asked the White House to elaborate, and officials downplayed the idea. A White House spokesman told the newspaper that Obama hasn't officially proposed the tax, and another administration official said no proposal would be forthcoming. (We're concentrating on all the others right now. This one will be more acutely focused once we pass all the others ahead of it)

The Daily News pointed out that a similar proposal in New York went down in flames earlier this year. Gov. David Paterson proposed an 18 percent state tax on soda and other sugary drinks, but he backed off because of strong public opposition. (If he opened his big mouth again he would have lost even more votes next time ballots were peresented)

Yet there does seem to be some public support for taxing soda (Like who, the IRS?) if the revenue would help pay for health care reform. A May posting on The Atlantic's Web site looked at polling data that shows most people would either strongly or somewhat support such a tax if it were tied to paying for health care. (The sheep think it's a good idea, same as this proposed Edsel health care plan that will suck the public dryer of funds they don't posess already)

Well kiddies, there you have it. Make plans to pay $5 for that favorite soda/pop in the future whether you're fat or skinny. Expect this to further impose upon Coacoa Puffs, candy bars, whipped cream, Poptarts and anything else they deem, fattening. Berry and the government will take anything you'll voluntarily or un-voluntarily provide them. You can now join the same sin tax catagory that mommy and daddy do when choosing to express their constitutionally provided right to pursuit of hapiness. Now your rights shall be infringed upon even more. Your future socialist government calls you.....pay them or else -

Thanks for Voting for change. You can expect more change in your future

tl:dr?....go away

Sin Tax on drinks is already here. Atleast here in Arkansas. The last 2 trips we took to Sams we stocked up on some sodas for me at work & Tamara here at the house. After walking out the store I noticed a "sftdrink tax". Its only $.47 out of nearly a $300 ticket but come on.

.47 x 100,000 consumers = $470,000.00

Just imagine the total gross in a years time in all stores in all states. This country is a governments gold mine and we must pay what they stipulate or do without. As if the country's people aren't doing without enough as it stands -

Give Us Yo Money Sukka!

stop the press! taxing sodas will help pay for health care reform!!?!?! which health care reform? the one thats supposed to be in the works right now funded by all that other **** they're taxing? barry's had his chance. time to stop talking about change (i want mine back. i see the GOV'T as a vending machine, and i sure as hell put in more than i paid for!) and he needs to stop playing with his friends and saying high to our european and asian neighbors and come home and DO WORK SON! all this talk about change, reform, education and health care. here's my question barry: which black-booked tarp is it under and when can i see it?

edit: and everyone knows that if they tax soda, 90% of the population will just drink more kool-aid. what are they gonna do then, tax 5lb bags of sugar because its "unhealthy?"

Pretty sure that's the whole scam. Once it's deemed OK for soda, anything they add to that sin tax catagory will fall in suit -

Who da mastermind of this gang? Can anyone join? And they have put people in jail for years for stealing from others -

he'd never do that! taxing kool-aid!??! (not to sound racist, but...) 80% of the people that supported him in the election would shun him!

and yes, that 80% includes lower-class and lower middle-class citizens, not just the african-american/black population.

the second half of your post reminds me: dont steal - the government hates competition.

disclaimer - i grew up on kool-aid. and im mad that i forgot to run to the store after work today to pick up more sugar because me and my roommates are po' and all out!
