help buying a truck

The tranny problems in the Dodges have been fixed for quite some time now. They were mainly an issue in the 90's models.

Wow thanks for the input guys. I didn't realize there were so many posts. I've been looking around at just about everything, but like I said I am still a little partial to chevy myself, but I can't find anything with 4wd. To plow in the winter its a necessity. Hmmm

You can't find anything in 4wd and you are looking at the 1500's????? Where are you searching and where do you live?

I just bought (it only has 560 miles on her now) a 2009 Chevy Silveardo Exteneded Cab LT Z71

I HIGLY RECOMMEND IT...with active fuel management I'm getting 24 on the highway and close to 20 city...now if it wasn't for those damn stop signs and traffic lights...

May I ask how much that cost you total?

I love my Chevy Tahoe, and My dad has 2 chevy trucks (2500 and 3500) and they are nice. I havent been in a newer dodge, but I know ford F150s are nice.
If your looking for used, I would look on a good deal on either a ford or chevy.

For sure, of the brands I've worked on, I've found Ford and Chev to be the least retarded, Ford much less than Chev, from an electrical standpoint. Chev likes to computerize everything. And yes... even the door locks are computer controlled.

Hoppy, I've mostly been lookin at websites like autotrader, and of course the paper, and anything I spot while driving. The thing is that my price range is about < or = $8000 at this point, and I'm also looking for an extended cab so pickins seem pretty slim from what I've found.
