Yes, longer barrels do use more air... just slightly. Like Shady said, the stock barrel that comes with the Apex is ****. A J&J would be a good idea.

Hat uses the JJ and apex tip together and swears by it so you wont be dissapointed if you go that route. The barrel you got is probably for the MR2/3 its longer because of the shroud.
Like Tim said a longer barrel uses more air but I doubt if you would ever notice it. Maby 20 shots for a 20 oz. less. not a big deal IMO.

I used too run the J&J/Apex combo but now I am using the Empire Barrel Kit/Apex combo but Slim is right if you get the J&J you wont be disapointed

I know this thread is pretty much closed down, but I read something that sparked my interest. It was said that you can remove the AK shroud from the BT barrel; I'd like to know how. I understand how to take off everything except the sling point, how do I take that off?

there is a setscrew underneith where the loop for the sling is just loosen it off and slide it off.
