I would suggest starting here. There's lots of information on what other people have done, what fits and what doesn't, as well as quite a number of problems that people have encountered, and the solutions for those problems.

Critical said it best you should have an idea of what you want. Its good to get insite on wht your thinking about to then you have the heads up if its trouble or not. What exactly did you have in mind? are you thinking more cosmetic or internal or both?

Cosmetics are going to be the most difficult way to make your gun stand apart from the rest. Even getting various parts from different companies, there are only so many companies out there, and they only make certain parts.
To truly make your gun unique, you would need to contact a machinist/airsmith. Work with them to decide what you want your gun to look like and what your budget is. This custom work can range in price from quite reasonable, for simple cosmetic work, basic milling fees and small custom parts, all the way up to insanely expensive. If you are interested in going this route, I have worked with several individuals who I can recommend without hesitation, who I can send a sketch on a napkin and they produce exactly what I wanted, and the price has always been less than I expected.
