well, i guess i can spill the beans now that everything is here!

i came across a post on PBN where someone put SCM3 internals in a timmy LPR housing. i floated this idea to a few people, and they decided to give it a shot. one of those people was our very own oldironmudder. after talking for a few days, he said "i wonder if the bob long lpr and hpr use the same valve system..." sure enough, the brass Schrader valve in the Torpedo reg and LPRs are exactly the same. so we decided to order a few extra parts. once i get everything sent out, we're going to try and find out how much of a performance increase we can get out of a modded torp.

if you look at the manual (here) for a 2liter, it looks to be set up just like a torpedo reg.

if our assumptions turn out to be true and we see a definite increase in performance, we'll have found a VERY cheap alternative to a 2liter reg. used torpedos can be found for $20, and the SCM3 valve can be bought straight from AKA for $15 + shipping ($5). we're also using PBK delrin pistons in place of the stock aluminum ones ($10 + shipping).

I've done the LPR mod on my timmys a long time ago. Never thought about the torps because I always swapped them out. I have a Torp on the spimmy right now. I should give it a try. Let me know what you find in your testing.
