im lost need help on hpa

well ive been playing pb for 3rd yr coming around and i have xtra saving up for a vs 2. But till then im stuck with it. I was on sb game and i notice my marker wont shoot at time, i realized its from the co2 im using. So im thinking goin for hpa, wondering whats the difference from 3000 and 4500?
I understand one holds more volume, but how does it affect gameplay?
I play woodball but not much as speedball. I was wondering that will 72ci 3000psi be good, ive been playing with a 20oz co2 and i got comfortable with it.

3000 and 4500 are the pressure that the tank holds
the CI is how big it is

the 72ci tank will be heavy, because it is made out of alluminum. If you want a light tank, go with a fiber wrapped one

The volume is denoted by normally the first number, the CI. You can get 3000psi tanks in a number of different sizes, typically 48 (steel), 68 (steel/fiber), 72 (aluminum), 88 (fiber), and 114 (fiber). In 4500psi, you can get 45 (fiber), 68 (fiber), 72 (fiber), 88, (fiber), 92 (fiber), and 114 (fiber). When I talk about tanks, I say the CI first, then if I'm talking about a 4500psi tank I'll say "45," and if it's a 3000psi tank I'll say "3k."

As far as your situation goes... I'd sugest a 68/45 (68ci, 4500psi) tank as you most likely don't have a woodsball field that fills air, and the extra capacity (1500psi more, even though the volume doesn't change, the mass does) will do you well in drawn out games. You can typically get 1500 shots per 68/45 fill with a standard efficiency marker, but can get more or less depending on how your specific set-up is.

It isn't that much different in size from a 20oz too. You don't want to go with the really close size, a 45/45, as it doesn't hold that much air and throws your posture off. Same with the 48/3k. You definitely do not want to go with the 72/3k as if you're not a strong boy, then you're going to be finding it hard to lug around the field with you.

Now, here's a question for you: does your local shop/field that you would fill this tank at fill to 4500, or does it only fill to 3000?

OK, so definitely go for the 68/45 then. You can pick one up for $100-125 on PBN used, but make sure that they have pictures of the label, showing the hydro date. You can also pick a tank up from ActionVillage, like this one. Also, wherever from and whatever you buy, make sure it's high pressure (HP) output, not low pressure (LP). It'll work for you on every gun, whereas with your Xtra the LP wont work unless it's HEAVILY modified.

I picked this up when i was heading to a pb shop and kid needed money and was selling all his gear. 60 bucks i thought heck yea, but i forgot to look at the label and wondering when do i hydro this one?
I dont remember where i read but something about before july 1 2000 something is 3yr and after is 5yr

Its either 2k8 or 2k10, 3000psi tank. Pretty sure its a 5 year.

how much modding would you need to make it an lpa marker?

That is a 5 year tank and will need to be hydro tested in Jan. 2010.

New valve, new bolt, new V/A, new regulator (which means a new ASA), spring kit, etc. Stuff like that.

As far as that tank, it's a 68/3k, and will be good until 2010, as Taco said. The specifications on it are here, under the product number 697.
