Default fill station leaking

i was trying to use a borrowed fill station today. it is one of the cheaper ones off ebay. the problem i was having was that the universal fill adapter was leaking. the leak was around the stem that depresses the nipple on the tank. it was coming out towards the thumb knob that you tighten down. i have looked down into it and don't see pieces of o-ring or anything like that. should there be an o-ring to keep this stem from leaking? if so where can you get them? i looked on a couple paintball sites and didn't see o-rings for these.

just to clarify, the seal between the 20oz tank and the adapter was good. it was just the adapter itself that is leaking.
