According to the specs on my computer it can handle up to 4gb of RAM. I did extensive research on RAM before I bought it. I did a scan of my computer on Crucial's website and then bought the RAM that they suggested from New Egg. My mom got it to work by just messing around with it so there must be a bad connection somewhere. When she got it working it was with the old RAM so I tried the new RAM 1 more time and I'm back to the same problem. Well, almost. I had the computer powered up and I was messing with the connections inside the computer and accidentally stuck my thumb in the cooling fan, so now I need a new one of those (fan, not thumb
). I'm going to go get the fan later and mess around with it some more with the new RAM. If I can't get it to work, I'm going to throw the old stuff back in it and see if I can get it to work with that. If I can I'm going to send the RAM back and get a refund. ![]()

well now that you fixed the problem it wouldnt make much sense to say it.
i was going to say "you might want to check the flux capacitor" but yeah. |

LOL, that helps because its got me pretty pissed off that I try to replace the RAM, which should be a simple task, and now my computer doesn't work. Luckily my mom is a programmer and we have loads of unused computers. I'm on her Sony Vaio laptop and I'm kind of starting to like it.
And yes, I killed the cooling fan by sticking my thumb in it. It still works and will still spin but I cracked a couple of the blades and now it is almost as loud as a jet.

I'd try swapping it out for new RAM, you might be one of the very few people to receive DOA RAM..haha.

I don't think it was a cheap brand, it is made by Crucial. Anyway, I got my computer working again on the old RAM and will return the new RAM for a refund or exchange, not sure which yet.

I've always thought of OCZ as a pretty good memory company, and I haven't heard of any of their good stuff coming in DOA, that would be someone I'd recommend, but I don't really know the ins and outs of RAM, so I'm not sure who is good or not, just that I know one company that isn't bad.

mmmm ocz is a gamers wet dream
Go with ocz, but on newegg, make sure you look at the reviews and buy the best type. Otherwise you'll get doa sticks again ^^
