My current desktop can't stay with me, so I decided to build a new one ![]() Got 3/4 of my parts b/c UPS wanted to mess with me. Both of my boxes got to Houston last night, checked today and they say there not coming till monday. After cussing for a few secs I let it go and decided its not that long. Well then they show up at 6:30 and decide to mess with me by just delivering one of the boxes ![]() ![]() Final build tally: Intel i7 920 EVGA X58 motherboard Corsair Dominator 6GB triple channel DDR3 1600 EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked Edition video card Corsair 650RX 650watt Power supply western digital cavair black 640GB 7200rpm harddrive x 3 Samsung dual layer DVD+/-RW with lightscribe Rosewill 52-in-1 Media card reader Cooler Master HAF932 Full Tower Nippon Labs Locking head SATA cables x5 Going to run windows 7 - 64 bit beta for now, will downgrade to vista ultimate 64 if there are to many problems, even though I don't really like vista. Build pics and benchmarks to follow up on monday/tuesday ![]()

![]() i dont see why not. even with all the crap i have in my PC, i only "need" 299w according to wattage calculators, but i have a 500w.

![]() Its more then enough, the graphics card peaks at 200 watt at full power so that leaves 450 watts for everything else. It can easily handle the job since the rest of the pc will max out below 200 watts. Specs from the company are always overkill to protect the noobs from frying there system, in true power usage I will be atleast 200 watts over my peak usage.

Real world testing on sites like toms hardware all show the i7 with a GTX 295 (highest end GTX card) peaking under 300 watts at 100% Based off all the peak watts I got from different test I should be looking like this if everything is running at 100%: i7-83.6 watts DDR3 ram-10 watts x3 video card- 190 watts harddrives- 6 watts x 3 So total I will max out around 321.6 watts.
