I agree with any new riders taking the MSF course. It's a great experience and even an eye opener for the experienced riders. He'll, you even get your license out of the deal.

I'm painting them black.

If I was you, I'd look for a GMC or Chevy just like you looked at. The 5.3 is a bit better on gas than the 5.4 and more powerful. Those GM trucks are pretty much bullet proof. Not saying the Fords aren't, but I see the GMs go 200k+ miles regularly.

Fuel pumps if you run them down to empty a lot, since the pump is cooled by remaining fuel in the tank.

Never heard of ball joints failing.

I dunno, get whichever you want. You should be pretty good either way. But [Captain Obvious]Gas costs are going to be ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS. The GM has a 26 gallon tank and gets 15MPG on a good day.[/Captain Obvious]

I have customers who regularly have to replace ball joints on their blazers. GM trucks are terrible when it comes to suspension. So are GM vehicles in general. They get all saggy, floppy and wiggly. (For lack of better words)

They, however, will give you the least amount of worries when it comes to maintenance. The new F150's are garbage. They have plugs that you don't want to change because they have a 80% chance of snapping off inside the tube when you try to take them out. Most dealers or shops charge close to a grand for a full tune up on them.
