Default newbie here....help w/ electra 06

hi everyone, nice to find a site that has so much information.
i was wondering if u guys can help me.

i recently purchased a electra 06 and i fired it for the first time. the markers or paint balls always seem to veer hard right. it will not shoot straight.
never fired or used these types of guns.
my questions are:

a) am i doin something wrong?
b) do i have to make any adjustments?
c) could i have a defective gun?

any help would be appreciated very much.

thanks

Well that could be a variety of problems. Did you break paint? What kind of paint were you shooting? What were the weather conditions?

It sounds like it is a problem with the paint rather than the gun itself.

To add to what sp said. Paint to barrel match is very important. Not all paintballs are the same size and not all barrels are the same bore. You need to match you paint to the barrel you use. Here are a couple helpful charts for you:

Barrel Bore Chart
Paintball Size Chart

Both of these charts come from OtterSC Customs which is very helpful for Spyder owners and is also referred to as "The Spyder Bible". Hope that helps.

i have learned a great deal already!
i looked at the barrel and cannot find a specific dimension or diameter. the manual says .68 paintballs only.
i have tried the prescibed test... insert ball....if it rolls out freely..its to small...well, indeed...it rolls right out! as i look into the barrel while the ball in in there...i see daylight all around.
i guess this is not good?

well, any other tips are welcome here! lol.
thanks guys :-)

Also check the velocity of the marker. If you have access to a PB store or filed go there and chronograph your gun. If the Velocity is very high it can effect the way the balls fly. They are fluid filled gelatin shells and if the velocity is too high the balls will warp (like an egg) and not fly straight.

If you do not have access to a store to chrono your gun, consider picking one up. The handheld type will only set you back about 60 dollars and is a very good investment to make sure you are playing safe.
