since its spraypaint it will scratch off over time. i only used maybe a third of the can, so i can repaint it several times when needed

Hmm, true, but clear-coat can be redone if it gets scratched too much. Clear-coating is also very durable, in my experience. I used some Rustoleum Clear-Coat on a gun-part to see how well it's finish would hold up, and it hasn't let me down yet with only 3 light coats of the stuff on it.
 Very nice Mag! Making me want one....
