So how are you gonna go air-thru? Mod it yourself like mine?

I think I will going in from the side... cutting up the BT mag to get it to work might still work but while I wait for the parts to show up, i'll leave it with the AK mag on there... the M16 mag is gonna look P1MP! so I'm not liking the step-back I had to take on this.

Ran a full q-pod through it today. chronoing at 290 bang on 30 shots in a row highest was 294. no chops but did get one no cocking (prolly would have chopped without the ACP terminus bolt). I had to keep flicking the feed hose as the bend coming off the pod holder was binding just enough to stop the feed. fixed it by adding a second o-ring to the feederhose so that it stands out straighter (if I pushed on the feed hose the balls would slip past the bend)
I hand fed 40 balls through and they slipped past with no resistance now.

I really like the Q-pod. great magazine if you get past the initial learning curve. My advice for new pod owners, load slowly, take your time and the balls will sail outta there. Kinda like packing a chute, do it right and methodically and you won't bind come rip time... and you can guess how important that is to you.

Edit: oh yeah... and my HK416 rear sight showed up today.

Was there any modifications needed to install the shroud

Yes. I got a 1/2" riser to lift the SIR shroud off the marker so the the barrel was centred and fit along the top (metal part). The bottom plastic part needed to be cut to accommodate the MR2 metal front shroud (kept for a later part of the project) and a semi-circle cut-out for the feed neck along the top.

i almost got a dboys shroud for the a-5, but its too much work. it looks like a better fit on the mr since you dont have that cyclone in the way!

I have been playing with it every weekend since the last update. I get so many 'oooos' and 'aaaaahhhs' from everyone.

I haven't had a chance to do any more ... My daughter's hockey has been keeping me pretty busy for the last few weeks but I'm going to finish the mag/regulator issue soon. I missed scoring a plamers inline stab on a5og.net a couple of days ago and i'm still burned about it. My plan now is to block the bottom hole with an M12x1.0 bolt, trimmed with a slot in it, and side mount an inline stab with air-thru to the stock; I have room under the q-pod and the shroud for it. It would be nice to have it tucked away in the butt-stock but I think this will work out best.

I'm kinda tempted to put the original fore-stock back on and use a female stab as I'm not sure I like running with a remote any more. (I'm so indecisive in the planning stages )

You need a 1/2" riser rail to clear the sides and align the barrel with the middle of the shroud, but it is a pretty simple mod.
