Duracoating Services For Sale

Ok well as I am sure a few of you know I have been working my way up to doing some duracoat work. I decided that I would do a project marker to show up what I am currently comfortable doing.

For those of you who don't know what duracoat is it is a spray on Firearm finish created for military and professional use. It is very durable and absolutely permenant. I have taken both of the following markers out and treated them with much abuse and have come back with flawless finishes. Not even the Barrel tips were scratched!!!!

Now on to the projects:

I had 1 whole marker to work on and 1 mill body to work with.

First we have the xmill. When I got the marker it was in really bad shape. It was cut with a dremel and had half the anno scrapped off. So I set out to see what I could do with it. Since I was doing the other project marker in black I decided to do this one in red. It turned out better than I expected, but some of the cut marks are still present where it was cut. but I think the color turned out nicely.

Here it is now. You will notice that I put a high rise feedneck on it.


Next we have a B2K 3.5 that I got (also in a trade). It's cut job was alot cleaner, but the owner had just run rampent on it with a dremel and he had spray painted it to try and cover it up. I had also planned to put this marker together with some left over parts from my own trayless B2K4 and some other parts I have lying around.

Here is what it looked like when I had all the parts up together.


For this one's color I just went with gloss black with the red as a high light color. The pin on this one isn't that great and there is no feedneck on it. I still have to coat the feedneck tonight and I am going to put another coat on the body and the eye covers. Oh and sorry for the bad pic, but the sun was going down and the shadows are really long. I will try and take another pic tomorrow night when the sun is better positioned.

Interesting, What exactly is duracoat? paint or anno?

Well technically it's neither. It is a "coating". It actually bonds to the metal like anno, but it is applied in a spray like powder coating. So I'm not really sure what you want to know. Ask me more questions and I'll be happy to answer them.

Would it come out glossy or flat or can you choose? How easily does it scratch? Thanks.

dura coat is awesome! I have one of my 9 mm handguns duracoated. when done correctly it s more durable than any bluing you can get and it looks good also. I haven't messed with any of the colors but black is sweet on my gun! The biggest problem i have seen on guns is that people do not clean the guns of all oila nd dirt and crap and then it won't bond correctly. they redid my gun once because a big piece chipped off on the top of the slide. since they have redone it it looks like new and i carry it every day. no holster wear or anything. When done correctly you can't ask for a better finish. Your work looks great i may be in touch. i have a hhalf backed rebel i may want done.
