You could try a couple different things. First, typically Spyders don't do well with a regular 9v battery, so you could try getting a new 9.6v rechargeable. Or if you really think the board is fried you could try finding a used one, which I'm guessing go for $20-30. I'm not sure if the Tadao board works with the MR2, I'm sure it fits, but the Tadao board was meant for markers with eyes and I don't know if you can turn that function off.
