Default Kila Detents for my DM4

Kila DM4 Detent review and install

Hello all, Rob from Kila gave me the opportunity to show off the Kila detents for the DM4. I know that these are not new and many of you have chosen to purchase these great detents already but for those that havenít looked into these detents I thought it would be good to see what they look like and how they are installed into the DM4.

When they arrived from Rob they came in some great packaging. I believe the ones that you get from the online stores come in a beautiful jewelry type box. Mine came in some simple packaging but I really donít need a lot of bling and as long as they didnít come damaged I was happy.

The kit includes 2 covers, 2 piston/detents and 2 magnets installed in the covers already and 2 more just in case you want a tighter more firm detent for double feeding.

Install is relatively simple. You simply unscrew the stock detents and take out the stock setup. Replace them with the white piston Kila detents and your preference either use the second set of magnets for a much more firm detent resistance or just use the one magnet already installed in the cover. I felt that using 2 magnets on each was too firm so I am currently using 1 on each.

The stock screws that I had on my DM4 werenít long enough to use on the Kila Detent/ eye covers so I ended up going to RadioShack and purchasing a new set of screws from their parts section. I just cut the screws with a dremel to make them fit. The one I have pictured here is the finished product.

I ended up using an Anno stick (black Sharpie) and colored the SS screws black.

All in all the detents are pretty nice and a great investment. If you are having issues with your stock detents and or need to replace them these are a great alternative to purchasing stock again.
