I JUST purchased a BT ak47 apex barrel with the shroud for my mr3, And now i smack myself becase the top of the shroud will stick out to much.

Ever heard of "2 Part oppoxxy"? just put two lines of "2part Opoxxy on the outer side of the cap and it should stay there. The glue can be purchased at your local hardware store for 3 bucks

I use electric tape on my openings under the grips and over the switch and for my evlution 3 hopper i have a rubber boot on it.
