I'm sure you could use the ones from the MR2 or MR3 as covers. He'd need the plastic cover from the left and the feedneck w/coverplate attached from the right -

Oh crap, I fergot.......don't even have to load it. All you need to do is hang the ball follower just like you do when you load it, just leave it there for a while -

The term cutting springs alway makes me feel uneasy. :( Maybe it's just that once you do it, you can't undo it. Why not just load up a mag full and leave the spring compressed for a while till it...

Far as breaks go, did you check the paint to bore relationship? Could be the clip spring is new and a little tense. That could push balls through the half nubby detents...

There's not really much you can do, nor need to do to improve these pistollivers. Only thing I might want to do is add an illuminated tritium or at least a white or dayglo dotted front sight element...
