Have to go with Master Tech there. It's what I do even when there isn't gas in the marker, just to save wear on the striker and valve stem.

What it sounds like to me is that maybe you adjusted the outside screws on the trigger a little too much and now the contact wont click without a lot of pressure. Take those out just a little bit...

Aside from having to replace o-rings more often, there really isn't anything to worry about. However it will affect the performance of your marker. I would suggest getting a tank cover or switching...

have you pulled everything out and checked the o-rings? sounds like you may be catching one of the bolt or the striker o-rings. just a guess though.
