Spyder Rodeo
Hey, i know they are discontinued but i've been looking for parts to fit my spyder rodeo. right now its just the basic stock paintball marker with no changed parts... but i want to alter it up a bit.. i live in canada.. anyone know any sites or companies or hell even specific parts that will fit it? theres one paint ball store by me.. and he carries nothing that would fit it

Re: Spyder Rodeo
Yay! Nice to have another fellow Rodeo user on SOC! :D

Aside from the usual barrels, drop forwards and regulators there aren't many upgrades out there nowadays for the pre-2007 range of Spyders. That being said... Try PaintballGateway for the CIP Assault Block and CIP Ice Pick Bolt (both are excellent upgrades I've used on my Rodeo), and CCM do excellent clamping feednecks. I'm planning on using them on a majority of my markers so I'm upgrading as and when I can afford to.

Re: Spyder Rodeo
Thank you Very much Vagabond, i appreciate the help. I dont see many rodeo users around here much either lol. my roommate even says i need a new gun. Mind you, i love mine.. couldnt part with it. though a tippman 98 custom may be in the works in the future just because of the availability of parts.. i'll never loose the rodeo though.

Re: Spyder Rodeo
That's what I like to hear. I'm the same with my first Rodeo too and not just because it was my first Spyder. I got into paintball just after it came out and I just fell in love with the way it looked, the milling simply appealed to me, and that was before I discovered that modifications and upgrades were even possible. Since then I've got a few Rodeo bodies for other projects. (One day I might actually get round to completing them! :roflmao: )

You can't go wrong with Tippmann markers aswell. There's lots of nice mods for them. If there isn't a specific reason for getting the 98 and depending on which 'direction' you're going I would recommend the A5. I'm a bit biased though. I have a few A5s and no 98s. :D

BTW What sort of upgrades were you looking for for your Rodeo? Did you have a particular plan? (e.g. going low pressure, reducing kick, increasing shot count per tank, etc.)

Re: Spyder Rodeo
accuracy, going low pressure and reducing the kick are the upgrades i was looking for... shot count isnt huge to me, since my competition is the tippmann 98 lol... all my friends own tippmans...

Re: Spyder Rodeo
The OtterSC Customs Spyder page has all the information I used back when I started. It's now an archive page so some of the pics and links may not work, I haven't really checked in a while, but the info is still good if you're interested in doing the work.

Are you using HPA or CO2?

Re: Spyder Rodeo
Some day I'll get Otter's site back up, in the meantime if you need any info from it let me know, I have his entire site on my computer.

Re: Spyder Rodeo
About upgrading. I would say buy CAREFULLY if you're newer to paintball, pre-07' spyders like yours and upgrading them.

Your Rodeo came out when Kingman was using a number of proprietary sizes and fittings that can make upgrading a monumental pain in the ass.

Here's a pic I made to illustrate the most important things:

I guess you could say the barrel thread too, but I don't consider that a big deal at all. just shop for spyder threaded barrels.

Now, of course don't let all this discourage you, once you're aware of all the hidden BS, there's plenty of simple DIY mods and pretty good aftermarket stuff that are 1/2-sometimes a 1/4 of the price they used to be because of the lack there of demand nowadays. Another tip: 90% of the spyder parts on sites like pbgateway.com are a ripoff. Ebay, I&I sports and the buy/sell/trade section of this forum is a much better place to start after you find out what you need/want IMO.

Oh and here's a oldschool pic of mine back in the day.
