what are all the different sizes of sight rails that are used and what can be mounted on what? ive heard some sizes are interchangeable

i know that the MR1 has a 7/8" weaver style rail right?

can i mount a red dot that is intended for 3/8" rail or do i need an adapter?
its this one here: http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/585

The 3/8" rail is the .22 rifle and pellet guns rail, it is about 10mm wide. I dont think this dot will fit on the mr1 without an adapter. I did not see an adapter from 3/8 to 7/8, but im sure they exist. I suggest you to look my MR1 Compatible Parts thread, to see my reddot. Usually the problem with the mr1 and sights, its the space needed to install it, which comes in the way of the feedneck and the cocking hammer. The other problem is, a low mounted sight, in combination with the stock of the mr1, will give you difficulties looking down the sight because you will not be able to put your head in line with the sight. A sight raiser, or an offset rail will help.
