View Full Version : Stock help!

Does anybody have the same problem with the rear butt stock on the gun when you are wearing a mask. I bought the MR2 a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I put on the stock and everything fits fine but when I put my mask on I cannot see down my crossman laser sight. I was forced to take it off the stock to utilize the laser sight but I really enjoy the feel of the stock up agaist my shoulder. I was going to remove the top bar on the stock but it would weaken it and it would look bad. So I sanded enough of it off to see the dot at the top of the sight window. Does anybody have a solution or a better way?

P.S. I will later post a picture of the sanded stock (still in progress)

I just brought a M16 carry handle and mounted my red dot on it so it's high enough for me to see tru it even with a mask.

You do always have the option to buy an Offset Rail Mount. But i would reccomend the M16 Carry Handle.

I chose to cut the stock. I removed the top bar and 1/3 of the butt plate (shoulder portion). I was surprised to find that the stock is still very strong! I have played with it four times and just finished our first "Big" scenario game in our area and mine is doing very well.
If you choose to cut yours you may not have the same results as me and you are making it weaker. I chose to do it because I am not hard on my markers, if you are rough on your equipment this may not be the mod for you.
Good luck!

You Can Also buy a Side Rail for the MR2 and mount your scope on the left or right side of your gun where the armor plates are suppose to go.

M-16 handles, Offset rails and Riser rails are your options - I went with the riser rail.

As far as I know there are no real issues if you took off the top part of the stock. Sundragon have a tutorial on his site and it feels like a sound idea to me. But to be honest, its not the stock - its the problem with the rail set on level with the stock.

Go with either one of those 3 options and you'll be okay - but you might need to try out which one suits you best.

What i did was file down the stock and I got longer screws to raise the rail. I will have to later buy the m16 rail but this is only temp till i get more money lol.

Your temp riser got me fooled there - I thought there's a new rail accessory I didn't know about. Maybe you don't even need to spend more money on that :D

Actually looks pretty darn good :p.

yeah, It looks pretty good but it would look awesome with the m16 rail. I also want the pieces of wood (that covers the screws to rise it) to look a little more apart of it as if it was on purpose, i will later try different materials and such but that is good for now.

I put my stock on when I broke it out of the box the very first time, looked down the marker and immediately knew this wasn't going to work. Mainly because I like having scopes and often mount an NVG to my marker, so being able to look down the marker is a key component for me. I did the old hacksaw to the top rail and still hated it. Just do not like the style of it and it doesn't not resemble any stock of any real weapon anyway and I just love MILSIM!

But I just found a suitable stock in a style I like,so I am currently working on a custom stock for my MR2 and should be done with it wthin a week, just working out the final details of mounting it so it will be a firm and robust stock that will take a beating. I'll get some pics up soon once it's done. I finally have my vision for what I want my marker to look like and no one sells the parts for how I want it to look. I already have a marker that looks like an M4, see the photos section, mine is the only one there... http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/1311/

So I am going for a different look this time!

Sounds good, I think I have decided what I am going to do and it will involve some money but I got a crappy job to fund that. I am going to buy the "JCS RVA Voodoo Folding Stock" http://www.octanegear.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3466 as well as the m4 carbine barrel http://rap4.com/paintball/os/barrel-systems-spyder-barrel-c-22_220_373.html And the last item would be the m4 style sight and scope mount base. http://rap4.com/paintball/os/spyder-carry-handle-p-1876.html, http://rap4.com/paintball/os/m16m4-scope-mount-base-p-146.html

Ok, here's my finished stock. It's an Opsgear 98custom G36 stock I purchased onsale from Opsgear for $19.99, then modified it to fit to my MR2.

It is shorter than the original stock by almost 3 inches so it brings it in nice and close, which I like a smaller profile anyway. Everyone might not like it though.

:poopsself: So thats the G63 MR2 I've been talking to you about...

All you need now is a shroud in the front.

04-17-2007, 07:59 PM
that's pretty sweet, in march I bought the Blackpoint engeneering voodo stock. I am still waiting for it but it will be really awesome when it comes in. I also went on ebay and bought an m16 carry handle that fits fairly well except I have to modify the elbow so It will fit.

04-17-2007, 08:31 PM
you got any idea how to get the folding version on an MR1?

04-17-2007, 08:59 PM
Still working on the shroud, I'm basically carving it out of a 2x3x6 inch block of delrin using a puddy knife(J/K), but I have limited tooling tools available so it's slow going, besides the J-O-B and the old ball and chain.

I'm pondering other methods to make the shroud... but will probably use the first one as a building block to making a better one.

The stock came out pretty good, ha s abit of an angle to it, I didn't cut the upper chamber rod at a 90degree angle apparently so it lifts up a bit after screwing it into the g36 stock. There was the folding stock, but it eliminates access to the velocity screw and it doesn't quite match the marker very well when folded up.

Great work as always Viper - looking forward to the complete mod.

Viper, Nice work, let me know how that shroud turns out, what handle is that on your gun it should work with my shroud. And how hard was that stock to fit.

looks pretty cool when I finnish my setup I will post a picture, all I need to complete my gun is my new barrel and the JCS voodo Stock. They are both comming in the mail and will come anyday now.

04-28-2007, 12:19 PM

That a pretty nice setup, the only thing I don't like about the M16 sight rail is how it hangs off the back like that.

Yeah, at first I didn't like it but it grows on you but the main thing I had problems with was the elbo it didn't fit. I had to shave off some plastic to get it to fit but it is only halfway. I securly fastened it so it will not move though.

All you need now Inquisitor is the SPPS Feedneck ;)

I had one til I sold it to a guy in Canada (I'm selling my MR2)....it's SUCH an essential for the MR2. Brings the hopper closer to the body, and it's ROCK solid.

Are they reliable (getting their stuff to you fast and all that jazz)? and what type of clamping feed neck w/ threads is the best to buy?

05-11-2007, 12:35 PM
yeah i think i am gonna cut mine when i get my MR2.

05-11-2007, 12:58 PM
how is that barrel???

05-11-2007, 11:59 PM
The barrel is pretty good, it looks awesome, it has "spyder" engraved in it, and it is pretty accurate. I did have 2 balls break in it, it was cheap and old paint tho but overall it is pretty good.
