Problem with my Lucky Eyes

i just got the spitfire board for my '06 Spyder Electra, the board works great but my only problem with it is that the eyes dont reach from the board, through the grip frame and into the eye holes. they fall just short because the lucky eyes are plugged into the middle of the board instead of the top like the stock eyes. i would really like to use the colored eyes because they looked pretty sweet when i tested them out before board installation. so my question is: is there a way to lengthen the eye wires or some trick to make them fit in the electra without running the wires along the outside of the gun?

ummm.... cut the wires and strip both ends then put more wire in between them.?

^ thats basically what i was thinking and hoping it wouldnt come down to. i guess its my only choice though. it shall be done. now to go look for some wire.

EDIT: just finished splicing some wire on to the eyes and it worked like a charm. i added about an inch of wire and it fit with room to spare, but not so much that there was any excessive amount. all in all, it worked pretty perfectly. still waiting to get some paint and air so i can really test the board out.
