2. have hand directly under feedneck blocking escape
3. turn on loader
4.
5. profit

Do you mean to turn it off? you need to hold down the button until the light turns red then let go.

The reason why: the loader uses a set of infrared eyes in the feed neck to see whether or not a ball is present, if there is not one, the loader will try to load until something breaks the beam in the feedneck.
