you have to use a 9.6 the 9 isn't enough power

are u sure because my friend said he uses 9 volts all the time and they work fine.

Yes, the 9V just doesn't have enough power to operate the solenoid, which I believe uses about 9.2V to work.

Red is right. I've tried almost every regular 9v, rechargeable or not and none of them worked for more than maybe 10-20 shots. You have to get a 9.6v.

I have a friend who uses a regular 9v on his imagine, but he needs to change it for a new one every 300 or so shots. He is going to buy a new 9.6v before we play next.

do the math:
Shooting one case of paint (2000 rounds)
9v's@3$/each = $19.80
9.6v @14$/each = 14$ Plus you can use it for 1000 more charges

Regular 9vts will work fine... the 9.6vt batteries do not put out 9.6 volts anyway (a regular 9vt only puts out 7.2), you will not get as many shots off a 9 volt that you would from a charged 9.6vt, but it will still work.
