i keep seeing post about people blowing the regulator and such is this a big problem and if it is what should i do just to make sure i dont!

no its not, you have to break the reg in first, which is basically shooting a case or two worth of paint through it. Once it is broken in you will see that the paint is at more consistant velocity. You cant really 'blow' a reg, you just have to break it in.

It just takes a little breaking in. My reg is broken in and I'm shooting 200psi @ 290fps :D

Some people worry about blowing the gauge versus the reg, but avoiding that is pretty simple... just don't jack the pressure your reg is letting through up too high, and if you use co2, make sure it's anti-siphoned so it won't expand inside the gun.
