Does he want to stick to the VS/Ion price range?
How much experience does he have?
How often does he play?
Does he play speedball mainly or woodsball?

From those 3 guns I'd go with the VS2 because I don't like the rocking trigger and I don't really like ions very much.

me thinks drago is selling something....

I'm gonna go against everybody else and recommend an Ion. I dunno why, possibly because the amount of upgrades available are crazy and with the right parts and proper settings it will be a shocker dressed in a plastic body.

for every upgrade for an ion you can probably find the same for a spyder and for less. maintanence is easier on the spyder and he vs series just looks awesome.

Not necessarily true with the VS series. Although upgrades are starting to come out, they aren't as plentiful as the Ion. I'd still go with the VS, its a lot of gun for the money (quoting vwjimmy, I think).

true the aftermarket hasn't caught up to the vs series yet but they will.

A Proto Matrix Rail, little bit more expensive but said to be a decent gun.

I dunno if I'm allowed to say how much I saw them for at the local pro shop, but I think they only wanted 100 bucks more than the average ion price. assuming an average ion price is in the neighborhood to 300 dollars.

no school like the old school :p and im not even that old school, i just like mags lol. theres nothing like undoing one screw and the entire marker coming out to clean, the single moving part and all.
