Is there really anything you can do if a website rips you off. My friend bought something from a website and hasnt received it and its been like four months. Early on, the company communicated very well, but over the past month has totally stopped all forms of communication without any refund or product.

Sounds like either a fraud, or it went out of buesness. Did your firend pay with paypal?

uh... if it was supposed to ship via us mail you might be able to get them for mail fraud.

update: i sort of had the story wrong, my friend pre-ordered something new and was expecting for it to be shipped when the product was released from the manufacturere. however, the business never received the product and said that they would offer him a refund. So he agreed that he would accept a refund but he has yet to receive one in four months time. And yea he payed with paypal, should he open up a dispute with the seller?

don't you have only 30 days to file a dispute through paypal? I hope I am wrong for you.

edit---I couldn't find a timeline to open a dispute but once you open a dispute it has 20 days to be resolved or you have to escalate it to a claim or it will be closed forever.

It still might be worth a go, though. If not, the BBB can help, or their local police department. Which website was this from?

im going to try to open a dispute today, the website is egames4less.net
they are still open and all but they wont give him a refund

okay so my friend opned up a claim and paypal said they sent out an email to the seller and are waiting for his response,
so...
if he does not resond in ten days, they say that my friend willl win the case, does that mean he gets his money back?
i know it sounds like a stupid question
