whats the difference that makes some regs more tolerant of co2 than others? Like the palmer's stabilizer and bob long torpedo's are said to handle it better than certain regs like custom products reg and other ones. I just want to know what makes them handle co2 better than other regs and how co2 would harm normal regs.

Design. Usually regs that have the air inlet at the top (for the hose) are better for co2, there are lots of different reg designs, but the stab is the best, followed by the torp.

how does the side input make a difference from the bottom input?

It doesn't. Idk where Hob got that one from...

It's merely the design of the regulator. Most regs can do either CO2 or HPA, and those that are HPA are denoted on their manufacture's website. In the world of regulators, I follow the rule "you get what you pay for." You pay for a $10 reg, that's exactly what kinda performance it'll give you. If you go out and get a Palmers, you'll get that level of performance (extremely good, I was running one on my 'Cocker and later my Ion, both with CO2 and HPA, respectively).

Also would it be good for a reg If I use it with co2 for like 4 days and then hpa. I'm gonna get an evil detonator regulator and for the first couple of times I'm gonna have to be mostly using it with co2 but if my friend isn't using his spare gun I can use hpa for a couple of games. Another question is would it be ok to use macro line with the co2 for those times?

Macroline is fine so long as you use some of Hobby's. That's the most durable out there and will deff hold up to CO2's temperature changes. I wouldn't get a Detonator simply because they're fugly...

I was planning on getting macro line from hobbyhorse because I saw it was tested to 1000 something. Also I know the reg is ugly but its supposed to be consistent, almost every post about it on pbreview said that after its broken in its like +-2 and its only 24.99 on first call.

I love the Detonator....
But I had to re ring it after I used it on my Imagine with CO2....
Never had to mess with the Torpedo on CO2...

9000psi, actually. I agree with Jim... They're that cheap for a reason.

I don't really care about o-rings that much because they are not that big of a problem.

Yea, but rebuilding your reg after every bottle of CO2 gets old quick.....

I tear down my gun all the way after every day of play and I usually change all the o-rings so its not so bad for me. but yeah I'm probably use hpa most of the time.
