View Full Version : Alamo City "Low-Blow" bolt

ok this is my first review hope it is complete enough.

my set up first pilot acs with low-low bolt, 32* turbo valve, polished internals, high flow va,x-chamber until i get my reg, 12' j&j barrel. stock springs. Paint was dbx paint.

Air and lots of it are required for this thing to work. before starting today i was running 275-285 fps at the chrono. Installed the bolt and lost 40 fps with my adjuster all the way in. Blow by in the feedneck was almost non existant(huge improvement over the stock bolt). needed my spring kit and didn't have it. didn't see much of an improvement in distance and accuracy. i believe because velocity was so low. Then i switched barrels because of 2 barrel breaks. I switched to a 16" cmi tru flight barrel that was a bigger bore and the velocity didn't go up but wow did the accuracy. besides the length difference the only other difference was that the cmi barrel didn't have any porting. I switched to my stock barrel with all the porting and everything went bad quick. was down to 220 fps. switched back to the j&j after cleaning it with water and got the fps back up to 235 or so but still no gains in accuracy or distance. i played the rest of the day with the cmi barrel with low fps and was happy with the results but i beleve you really need a barrel with little or no porting and alot of air to get the most out of the bolt. I am gonna try a light valve with my stock main spring and see what happens. If my cup seal will seal then i believe i will be thrilled with this bolt. if the light valve spring won't seal on my cup seal then i will need to try the hard main spring but i really do not want to do that.

if you have any other questions that i haven't answered here post or pm me and i will be glad to answer them.

EDIT: I can't believe that all my problems were being caused by my x chamber and my egg with a z-board. removed x-chamber and no more velocity problems. then did nothing but chop paint this morning. My daughter sat out today so i switched to her egg which is stock and no more chops. Time for a "fasta" I think.

Dude, I'm glad someone got this bolt and made a review of it because I am trying to decide between the and the Shocktech supafly bolt.
First off, how much of the kick and noise is reduced by this bolt? And do you think this will help with the shearing effect of leaving my Pilot ACS top cocking rather than switching it to rear cocking?

Also, could you post the pic of your bolt? I would like to see exactly what shade of blue they are using for the bolts.

I will get a pic of the bolt but they sent me the wrong color and I didn't notice until i got it in the sun light. I work nights and opened it op n the computer room with no lights and i thought it was dark blue. installed in the gun and took it out to play and noticed they sent me purple.
here is a link to a pic of the colors available but each one will be slightly different. Please note there is no purple offered. So I think he dyed it to long or something.

yeah how does the bolt feel, like kick wise? and you should get a pic of it anyways!

Ok I swithced to a 9 inch barrel with no porting this weekend but couldn't find my spring kit. I ordered a new one should be here before next sunday. velocity was up without the porting but still running low 240-250 but better. I chopped a ball and the the bolt seems to trap paint in the quad orings that came on it and stop the bolt from shooting well. Gonna try regular orings next with the spring kit to get the velocity back where it should but had a much better experience this week than last.

the flash could have made it lighter, i dunno.

12-03-2006, 06:39 PM
yes it was the flash because everyone on my team says it is purple. Guess i missed the purple on the web site. Someone asked about about kick with the is bolt. Honestly i couldn't telll a difference between this and the stock bolt. But I shoot every weekend on the rifle and pistol range on saturday and paintball on sunday so kick is not a big deal to me with a paintball gun.

edit- added another pic the flash didnt' lighten this one up as bad. maybe you can see why i say it is purple

How has it been working now? I am thinking about getting this bolt and throwing away the stock ACS bolt. I get a ton of blow-back into the feedneck, plus there is alot of wiggle room with the stock bolt. Plus I get the notorious jumping-cocking-pin, boy do I love that.

My two barrels are the SP Prog 05 and JJ S2. Let me know, thanks bud

I havn't been able to see it used yet :(. Well, acctually a friend of mine got one aswell, and he shot some reballs in my basement with it, seemed to be good, but there wasn't enough distance to see if it was really working. I have to get out and play sometime! :( Its been far too long now.

My bolt is awesome. with the spring kit i can get my marker to recock around 200 psi but have low fps. i can shoot 275 fps down to about 275-300psi. using light valve and stock main. the only complaint i have is if you chop a ball you will have to bpull the bolt and clean it. paint gets trapped in the oring grooves and inside the bolt and shots go every where. fast hopper and slightly smaller paint to bore match and you will see wonders with this bolt. I have passed this marker down to my daughter now. runs and shoots great. she can almost shoot nest to a a-5 with a flatline and you mould be hard pressed to tell which one shot which ball.

i have a marker im working on with this bolt in it. i have found the low blow cut out on the front of the bolt is springing shut .031 from the front to back of the cutout. this shrinking or lack of memory has pulled the bolt out concentrisity. in other words it is not straight any more and fits the marker alot tighter than i would like. im not saying this is a bad product, im just telling what i found in one bolt.

what has been done to the bolt. are you lubing the bolt with paintball oil? I haven't had anything like that happen to mine yet. and it shouldn't because of the quality of the delrin used to make the bolt shouldnt' swell but it leaves a littel doubt about getting my next one for my T-1

02-04-2007, 11:57 AM
it is not my marker. it is a customers. the bolt is not swollen, i checked all measurements with calipers. most all material has memory in it. it is like cutting a tube sideways. as soon as you cut all the way through the memory will spring the cut closed. i have also noticed the delrin is dyed. im not sure of the process, but this could also lead to changing the memory if it is temp related.

my bolt is blue and have seen nothign like that on mine, but i will watch for it
