I half backed my gun further on the weekend and my gun is almost complete. heres the pics.

I still need to file and clean up the cuts a little but I need to go out and buy some sand paper. after that I just need to paint it black.

Cool. i've wanted to half back my imagine for a while, but never gotten around to it.

Wow, that looks great! How does it look from above, though? Clean cut?

yeah but it looks kinda weird because its silver of course so I'm gonna find a way to color it. I think I might paint the gun all black.

Get it anno'ed :P. I'm acctually considering geting my imagine anno'ed when I finnaly finish it, just so It can super ubertastic.

Its surprising that such a simple cut came out looking so nice, did you just use a hacksaw? The curved back that the vision cocking system leaves behind looks sweet. Great job.

Hmmm time to go at my imagine body with a sharpy me thinks.

I agree, that cut is perfect for the Imagine body, and it looks like you executed it perfectally as well!
You could hit the cut area with some Automotive touch up paint until you decide what to do....

I like the cut but I couldn't cut further back because I was using a table saw. To redo it later I'm probably going to use my drill press to make a big circle and redo the cut with a dremell when I get one. I'm not going to anno it because I don't really have the money and don't really feel like spending about $80+ for a color. I'm probably gonna paint (airbrush) the body all black and do some small designs in silver of my lucky # and stuff like that. All I need to complete it is a black barrel and black sticky grips and the paint. I already have a t-board and eyes my new clamping feed neck and some other stuff coming in the mail. I'm gonna be happy with this gun because I modded every thing in the gun by myself and every thing came out good.

A table saw???? The last time I saw someone put metal through a table saw, it kicked back and shot the peice through some safety glass. Not fun stuff... Do you mean a bandsaw, perhaps? If so, that's pretty damned clean for one! I might have to do this myself.... Hmmm....

I forgot what its called but when I remember I'll tell. I would have used a hack saw but I couldn't find hardly any tools in my garage because my dad closed one of his businesses and we had to put all his tools and furniture and supplies and all this stuff in my garage and I cant find any thing. I'll post more pics later when I half back it further(probably in December).

i can do some simple halfbacking if ne1 is interested. and i think shunut does it too,as well as drilling and tapping for eyes, look in the store links thread for his thread.

i was thinking along the lines of do it yourself. i have a hacksaw but if anyone could post pictures of lines to draw and where to cut, that would be great as well... ;D

I did cut mine by eye. Just cut how ever ever you want, and polish the cuts so its not messed up.

it looks really nice btw. so if i halfback my marker, i can instantly use rear cocking bolts??

Hob Hayward

If you halfback, you can use ANY bolt.

Mine is on its way, I need some more time with my dremel tonight, and then I'll throw some pics up.

i've got a halfbacking question. i've got an aka lightning bolt that i turned into top cocking (locked a quick strip pin in place) it has that 3rd oring, i'm halfbacking my gun, and the way i have it now, when it's uncocked, the oring is in the body, and when fully cocked, it's where it normally is. i was planing on having 2 "horns" on it, and it would have enough material to support that 3rd oring. is it really neccasary, or could i cut it further forward?

that does look cool!! but it could cause you to like get crap in it easily. are your ey wires running outside the gun without protection?

I wont get stuff in it because my gun is never on dirt, Its on a table when Im not using it. And I just made eye covers for it but their not in my pic.

I just did it because I felt like doing it because I was modding my gun because I had nothing better to do. I sold that gun last year anyway.

basically cutting off all the excess upper tube. its one way of making guns top-cocking. IMO it looks like crap if you just do straight lines (i guess thats one reason i dont really like egos...)
