I am new to paintball and i am thinking of getting a spyder electra '06 and i have been looking at the VS3 or VS2 because i hear that the rocking trigger is illegal in some tourneys but others have also suggested i get an ion too. i have a budget of around $350 for a marker and the extra for the rest, goggles, HPA tank, hopper and the such. so i just wanted to know what everyone else would recommend i get, i am mainly going to play at fields doing speedball and recball for fun but i might get into it more and start doing some tournaments. i hear that you can disable one of the sensors on a rocking trigger to use it in a tournament. so your recommendations are greatly appreciated. thanks. :D

yes a vs. ION thread....

For $350 you are not going to be able to get a gun, goggles, tank, and hopper. Unless you get some of it used.
For new parts you are looking at the following. prices are very rought ballparks.
Gun: $200
Hopper: revvy-$50 force feed-$120
Goggles - $50+ ( IMHO dont skip on the goggles. Mine where $80. invinsion I3s :) )
tank: steel $70 carbon fiber: $170

Anywho IMHO between an ION and VS2/3, it is presonal preferance. They are both pretty soild stock. Both are good for the price. Once again i like the VS2 because the internals are a lot easier to take care of. Find someone that has them both or go to the pb store and see if you cant try them out.

I would also get the VS2 over the electra.

IMO get:
Pilot: 110
Evlution 2 hopper: 60
goggles: spend as much as possible don't settle for a cheap pair
tank: just start out with C02 imo.

what i meant by the $350 dollar budget was that i can spend around $350 on a marker and i dont really have a budget limit for the rest, what i mean is that 2 different people are buying my equipment, on buys the gun and one buys the rest. i decided on the invision i3's for goggles and an eggy 2 as a hopper. i'm not really sure about exactly what to get for a tank but i know i want to use HPA over co2. i will definitely try the markers out though before i decide completely because otherwise i would probably get a marker and find something i dont like about it. i will definitely look into the VS2. is it possible to shoot fairly quickly with the infiniti trigger?
and one more question, what do IMO and IMHO mean. i cant figure it out. thanks.

IMHO hrmm in my humble opion.....at least that what i always thought. :) anywho...

ok, $350 on the marker then you can go for one of the follwing. VS2/3, ION, Promaster.

All 3 are good guns. And I think it is up to your personal preference between all three on which one to get. The "best" of the three is probably the promaster but it could be argued over until the cows come how on which is the "best".

and because i hate typeing this over and over again...

Good idea not to skimp on the goggles. The I3s are really good. I like mine. There is a difference between $20 and $80 goggles. I used to have an old pair of JT goggles. Their cheaper version and after a day of pb, my head felt like it had been in a vice all day. During a day with the I3s, there were times i forgot I had them on... Like when i was walking around the staging area with them on talking to people. :)

i appreciate your device and i am seriously considering changing my decision but i was just wondering why you all prefer the vs2 or vs3, the ion, and the promaster over the electra? i just want to make an educated decision, so thanks for all of your help.

Well if $350 is truely your budget for a marker take a look at this. I'm betting it changes your mind about a VS, Electra or Ion.

I know its going to be my next marker...And also go to www.pbreview.com and read some of the reviews that actual owners have given it.

Why a VS2/3 over electra?
-VS2 is 189.
-VS3 is 240.
The only difference between the vs2 and 3 is the trigger.
Electra with eyes and rocking trigger is 250.
Electra with out eyes is 180

The VS2/3 comes is low pressure has better parts all around at a lower price. I like the VS2 over the VS3 because I dont like the rocking trigger. Other than that it is the exact same gun.

The electra is just another espyder where the the VS2/3 is leap forward. Most will agree.
