View Full Version : I can't believe he bought it!

A friend of mine wants to get into paintball, but didn't have a marker. He told me that he wanted to stay under $100 because he doesn't know how much he will play. We are having a little paintball outing this coming Saturday, so he wanted to buy one and try it out. I recommended several different Spyders that he could pick up for under $100, but ultimately it was his decision. Well, this is what he bought:

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k54/Darkh2o/TriumphXL.jpg

Most everyone here has seen this, either a pic or the video, so I know it's old news. But I almost lost all bodily functions laughing so hard when I saw it in person. He told me that he got a really good deal on it ($99 in a kit)! I thought that I'd better bite my tongue and not rip on it too much because that will discourage him. So I tried to point out some positives on the marker and said that we will give it a workout on Saturday and see how it performs.

I'm still in shock.:bigshock:

If I get a chance to shoot it, I'll try to put an update here (although I doubt it really matters).

And then when he looks at you in shock of what you did, backhand him again, continue until there is a clear print of the back of your hand on his face and he is crying for you to stop. Only then can he be forgiven for his sin.

I think he almost cried when I started to laugh. Believe me, I tried for a Spyder. I don't think I want to try to backhand him. He's about 12 inches taller and weighs probably 50 pounds more. I'll just take it out on him on the field.:D

Triumph w/ gravity feed loader vs. Pilot w/ Empire Reloader B...you do the math.

Me with Triumph and grav feed vs. you with Angel A1 and VLocity, the math is the same either way, just make sure you factor in the players ability...

But anyway, I am looking for a full review I refuse to sell those things in my store so I havent gotten the chance to shoot one yet.

Certainly not defending the marker or your friend but he is a noob right? All he'll need now is a red sweatshirt and pair of blue jeans and he'll completely look the part -

Well. I bet it acctualy shoots fine, you can't deny that the tippy design works well no matter what the situation. Whoever has taken apart a tipy will know what I mean, the inside is halfway powdercoated, and under that is a pitted xcast aluminium body. ytet the guns still work amazingly well, no matter what. So knowing that, as long as it isn't plastic on the inside it should shoot fine.

that looks more like a laser tag gun then a paintball gun

Lmao wow. Of all the cheap guns out there he had to go with that one. ^^I agree with you, that definitly looks more like a laser tag gun then a paintball gun.

Let him try your gun a few games. I guarentee he will notice the difference. His best bet is to sell it to another noob ASAP before the whole world knowes how incredibly crappy it really is. (From the videos I've seen with people playing with them... all I can say is "popcorn popper")

Looks to me like your friend is the next Vikingshadow. He'll have that gun in his collection forever just like Vike has his bent over elephant. Tell him not to spend $200 on a sonix though.

Hey - low blow! My sonix wasn't near as ugly as that thing is! Probably shoots better as well (especially after the upgrades....)

He brought it over to my office to show me how great it was. Then I showed him something I found on Tippmann's website about this series of markers:

"Are these markers easy to maintain and clean?
Yes. We designed these markers with the first-time player in mind. Maintenance can be done by simply adding some gun oil through the markerís open breach. If the marker requires further maintenance, we recommend sending it back to Tippmann for repair."

So apparently, if you need to do any internal cleaning or internal adjustments, it is recommended that you sent it back to Tippmann because as stated "maintenance can be done by simply adding some gun oil..."

I guess it's magic oil!

Hey Vike, I wouldn't call it a low blow but a friendly joke :). Anyways, the bent over elephant wasn't referring to the sonix, it was referring to your small blue pump, the old school marker (I forget the name of it).

Well, he hasn't shot it yet, but he went to "Richard's" to get some paint and fill his 9oz. tank. He came back to work with a big smile on his face and showed me the paint he bought. It was Wild Streak! He said that the guy at "Richard's" told him that it was great paint. I guess I need to talk to him now about what clothes to wear. Like Dragon said......All he'll need now is a red sweatshirt and pair of blue jeans and he'll completely look the part -

As I stated, we are having a little paintball outing this coming Saturday. So, after all of the stuff he bought, I'll try to get a pic of him with his new gear. I think he's going to look like the ultimate noob!:D

That's an idea for a new thread...pics of the ultimate noobie! If anyone has pics, start a thread.

Lol i dont know but my gun package came with 12oz =(. I gotta get a 20oz ASAP cause i doubt this thing has enough shots for a 200rd loader. Speaking of my 12oz, how many shots can these tanks have? I hope its more then 200 lol.

Nenkitsune
11-02-2006, 04:05 PM
yeah, they get way more than 200. a 20oz will get about 1000 in a stock spyder, so about 50 shots per oz, so, i'd say around 500-600 shots
