As some of you know my little sister competes in the Special Olympics. For the past 2 years she has competed in the swimming competitions and this year she has started competing in the bowling competitions. Today was her the regional meet and well...

she came out with a silver medal!!!

She has 2 bronze medals from her swimming meets so the silver is a nice addition. The state meet will be in about a month, December 1, we can't wait. She did great today and we are very proud of her. They played 2 games and after the first game she was in 1st place in her division. Unfortunately one of her friends had and awesome 2nd game and beat her by 10 pins (I was the score keeper for everyone on her lanes). She was very happy though to get a medal and everyone had an awesome time.

Her name is Abby, for those of you that don't know, and she is adopted, not that it matters.

I think she bowled a 68 and 53.

I told her everyone said congrats and that they were all proud of her.

You should have seen her face. They lined everybody up in order of place. The first 2 kids got ribbons, then the kid next to her got the bronze medal. As soon as she saw that he got the bronze, she new she was getting a medal and she got the biggest smile on her face. It was really cool, I'm glad I got to be there to watch and cheer her and the rest of the athletes on.

That's awesome man. I help with the local special olympics in my town, also. It's a great day to be able to go to a sporting event were parents aren't screaming and yelling crap about every other kid. They're all just happy to be able to do something "normal," if there ever was such a thing. Congrats shunut. One of the most selfless things you could do.

And, if you were keeping score, why weren't you a REALLY good brother and got her the gold?!! j/k....good going.

Congrats! It is incredible to me what the disabled can do. They push through their disabilities and make it work... I have much respect for them. Its a wonderful thing that your able to be there for her as a brother.

 keep up the good work both of you!
